Volcano Alert -- AVO Great Sitkin ORANGE/WATCH - Low-level eruption of lava continues. (latt 52.0765, long -176.1109)
Volcano Hazards

Oct 9, 2022 19:55 - Low-level eruption of lava continues at Great Sitkin Volcano. Seismicity remained at low levels over the past day.  No activity was observed in cloudy satellite and web camera data. The terrain is steep near the terminus of the current eruption's lava flows, and blocks of lava could detach without warning and form small rock avalanches in these valleys. These avalanches may liberate ash and gas and could travel several hundred meters beyond the lava flows; they would be hazardous to anyone in those areas.  Great Sitkin Volcano is monitored by local seismic and ...

Volcano Alert -- AVO Cleveland YELLOW/ADVISORY - Ongoing seismic network outage. No activity observed. (latt 52.8222, long -169.945)
Volcano Hazards

Oct 9, 2022 19:55 - An ongoing outage is affecting the seismic network at Mount Cleveland. No activity was observed in cloudy satellite data over the past day. Episodes of lava effusion and explosions can occur without advance warning. Explosions from Mount Cleveland are normally short duration and only present a hazard to aviation in the immediate vicinity of the volcano. Larger explosions that present a more widespread hazard to aviation are possible but are less likely and occur less frequently. When the seismic network is operational, Mount Cleveland is monitored by only two seismic ...

Volcano Alert -- AVO Pavlof ORANGE/WATCH - Low-level eruptive activity continues. Seismic tremor and one explosions detected. (latt 55.4173, long -161.8937)
Volcano Hazards

Oct 9, 2022 19:55 - Low-level eruptive activity continues from a vent on the east flank, just below the summit of Pavlof Volcano. Seismic tremor continues and a small explosion was detected in infrasound data over the past day.  No ash emissions were observed in satellite or web camera images and fresh snow was observered at the summit of the volcano this morning.Small explosions associated with the current eruption could happen at any time and may be accompanied by small ash plumes within the immediate vicinity of the volcano. The level of unrest at Pavlof Volcano can change quickly and ...

Volcano Alert -- AVO Semisopochnoi YELLOW/ADVISORY - Seismicity has been at low levels; no ash emissions or explosions observed. (latt 51.9288, long 179.5977)
Volcano Hazards

Oct 9, 2022 19:55 - Low-level eruption at Semisopochnoi volcano is currently paused. Seismic tremor resumed yesterday for a few hours and has since subsided. No explosions were detected over the past day. No activity was observed in cloud satellite and web camera views. Small eruptions producing minor ash deposits within the vicinity of the active north crater of Mount Cerberus and ash clouds usually under 10,000 ft (3 km) above sea level have characterized the recent activity. Small explosions and associated ash emissions could resume and may be difficult to detect during ...

Volcano Alert -- AVO Trident YELLOW/ADVISORY - Elevated seismic activity continues. (latt 58.2343, long -155.1026)
Volcano Hazards

Oct 9, 2022 19:55 - Low-level seismic activity beneath Trident Volcano continues. No activity was observed in partly clear satellite and web camera views over the past day.Increases in seismic activity have been detected previously at Trident Volcano and other similar volcanoes, with no subsequent eruptions. We expect additional shallow seismicity and other signs of unrest, such as gas emissions, elevated surface temperatures, and surface deformation to precede any future eruption, if one were to occur. AVO monitors Trident Volcano with a local network of seismometers, a webcam, remote ...

Volcano Alert -- HVO Kilauea ORANGE/WATCH -  Kīlauea Volcano is erupting within Halemaʻumaʻu crater. The current situations are ... (latt 19.421, long -155.287)
Volcano Hazards

Oct 9, 2022 18:37 - Activity Summary: The summit eruption of Kīlauea Volcano, within Halemaʻumaʻu crater, continued over the past 24 hours. All recent eruptive activity has been confined to the crater. No significant changes have been observed at the summit or in either rift zone.Halemaʻumaʻu Lava Lake Observations: Eruption of lava from the western vent into the active lava lake and onto the crater floor continued over the past 24 hours. The active part of the lava lake has been steady over the past 24 hours. Overflight measurements from October 5, 2022, indicated that the crater ...

Volcano Alert -- HVO Mauna Loa YELLOW/ADVISORY - Mauna Loa is not erupting and there are no signs of an imminent eruption at this time. ... (latt 19.475, long -155.608)
Volcano Hazards

Oct 9, 2022 18:37 - Activity Summary: Mauna Loa is not erupting and there are no signs of an imminent eruption at this time. However, Mauna Loa continues to be in a state of heightened unrest as indicated by increased earthquake activity and inflation of the summit. The current unrest is most likely being driven by renewed input of magma 2-5 miles (3-8 km) beneath Mauna Loa’s summit. Monitoring data show no significant changes in the past day and conditions remain similar to those reported for the past week.Observations: During the past 24 hours, HVO located over three ...
