The Earth Affairs Council is the ruling body that determines policy among the Species, Groups and Missions operating on and around this planet. It was initially set up by the Pleiadian Hegemony (over the objections of several other groups) and now has great power, though rarely used, to help or hinder any particular activity ("Alien" Activity) on and around the planet.

The Earth Affairs Council's purpose is to keep an even balance between all the vested interests here, including the Humans (the native humans, that is). It was particularly the last that caused the Council's being setup in the first place [so say the archives -- MIBs].

In general, the Council does not interfere, as long as any group or operation adheres (nominally) to the rules.

As most of you (may) know, the political situation in this part of the galaxy is touchy at the moment (has been for a long, long time) and much attention (and strain) is focused on this one small star system. It's much like a crucial, six-way (or 800-way, depending on your view point) arm-wrestling match (to use a dubious human metaphor), and every body's sweating it.

So, really... what the Earth Affairs Council is here for is prevent a recurrence of the Lyran Wars, while also allowing the possibility that the Earth Humans (ED Humans, "native" Earthlings) might end up owning the planet themselves and even joining galactic culture one day. Just the possibility.

Mostly, we just do not want another major war breaking out. [MIBs: not a completely true statement; the "we" is misleading. Some of the Council members do want that, but norminally behave themselves and follow the guidelines and protocols anyway.]

The Council meets at regular times and is also known to have special meetings and emergency meetings. Unlike the ED Human [MIBS: "ED" -- Earth Descended] American Congress, our hallways are not monitored by the internet. This allows a far easier "greasing of the wheels" than they now get to enjoy.

In other words, don't joggle our elbows; we're working to keep the Conquest of the Earth a relatively peaceful process.

At times, we will have announcements here. Otherwise, just enjoy your visit to the planet; if you get visited by authorized MIB Agents, please cooperate. Otherwise, have fun. While in the ETs Lounges, keep your grievences to yourself. The lounges are a no-combat zone.
